A Simple SEO Definition

Not a day passes by without someone asking me about search engine optimization of SEO. I don't really blame them. SEO, despite being around for years, is a new term for the uninitiated. Many have the impression that this is a highly technical term that needs a long elaboration. Others believe that this is a concept that is akin to a fad.

For clarification, SEO is not a difficult thing to understand. Simply put, SEO is the process of improving a website's ranking in search pages. You do it by using specific words in the web content, changing the mete tags in the HTML, creating links with other websites, and improving the over-all appearance and functions of the site

But why is ranking high in search engines so important?

It's because of the simple reason that the higher your site is in the search engine results page or SERP, the better your chances of visitors to your site. So if you have a site that sells shoes or NBA tickets, then you would naturally want more visitors. More visitors would mean more earnings for you. This gives you more reason to be friendly with search engines like Google, Yahoo!, and Bing.

If you're not familiar with the process of improving your search engines, then it would be a good idea to obtain the services of SEO companies. They are experts in their respective fields, and they are professionals who can help your site get further ahead in rankings. Local firms can get the job done for a reasonable fee, but if you're on a budget constraint, then an offshore company would do just fine.

Or, if you have the time, then you can do SEO on your own. One of the most basic methods would be content writing. It is a powerful method, but it is also very easy to do. I've enumerated the steps in doing so in my previous post, and you will agree that this is quite simple indeed.
